Sarah Gregg - The Reiki Drum Technique

I  have just had the BEST weekend. Synchronicity worked its magic again. I went to a local drum circle run by Steve Ball of www.jazzexplorium.net on my birthday a couple of months ago and Steve mentioned that Dr Barry Bittman of www.mind-body.org and Christine Stevens of ubdrumcircles.com were running the Remo Health Rhythms programme www.remo.com here in the UK. I already had a Reiki class scheduled but the one student who had enrolled cancelled shortly after I heard about this weekend so I was free to attend. Wow, what an incredible weekend and training. For those of you who have trained with me you will know I quote Dr Bittman’s research work on the therapeutic affects of drumming in my teaching and it was such a privilege to be in his presence and hear about his work. And Christine, well what can I say, she is a legend!  This lady is truly an inspirational soul. Her high, vibrant, loving energy kept the class in a place of joy, creativity, fun and inspiration. The Remo Health Rhythms programme is a fantastic programme. It is a Wellness programme which introduces the concept of drum circles and group empowerment drumming to everyone and creates magic!  As a drum circle novice, I had gone primarily to hear Dr Bittman and Christine present, but the magic of the drumming hooked me in as it always does and the programme is so powerful and foolproof that I hope to implement it myself in the future on the retreats I run and possibly even as a separate programme in itself.  The other class participants were truly inspirational souls in their own right.  I spent the weekend surrounded by sound healers, therapists and drum circle facilitators and to my delight even a raw vegan chef – an amazing group of individuals.

It was such an inspirational weekend that I was very mindful of the Reiki Gokai “Just for Today, Be Grateful” and spent virtually every waking moment full of gratitude for synchronicity that had brought me to the class, the opportunity to be immersed in such a powerful healing programme and to be surrounded by such inspiring people.  “Just for Today, Be Grateful” It’s easy to say it isn’t it!  How easy is it to practise though?  We can be grateful when things are flowing well in our existence, but when irritations arise we often forget and start to feel sorry for ourselves if things are not exactly as we would wish and bemoan even little things.  When I returned home tonight my lovely friend and fellow Reiki drummer Jan Dash had sent me this video as a reminder.  The following video is about the truly strong and amazing soul Nick Vujicic ….. this guy is incredible. Against all the odds his humour and sense of gratitude for life make our day to day problems pale into insignificance.  The following video is one I am going to put in my Favourites and whenever I forget “Just for Today, Be Grateful”, I’m going to see how Nick puts his gratitude into practise.  I hope you take the time to view this video and see how he had turned adversity into a blessing.  In gratitude to all of you…

And to continue the drumming theme, there are just two places left on the Reiki Drum weekend workshop which is being held in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire 4th & 5th September.  If you would like to immerse yourself in the teachings of Reiki Drum, learn a fantastic new skill for your Reiki toolbag and experience some incredible deep level healing yourself during the weekend then please get in touch to reserve your place.
